A French company, Unistellar, known for making telescopes is working on new Binoculars. Well, the Unistellar smart AR binoculars let you see thousands of stars and over a million unique landmarks.

The envision binoculars will use augmented reality to see more than 2,00,000 objects in the night sky and over a million unique landmarks, including mountains and trails. This binocular features 50mm lenses from Nikon, upgraded with an AR projection system that edges contextual material about what is being viewed in real-time.

The Unistellar smart AR Binoculars will connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth and use the GPS and other sensors to know where the user is located. You can also see the binocular data of cartographic items, including mountains, hills, trails, landmarks, water sources, stars, galaxies, and other celestial objects, from an app. However, if users are in a remote location, then they’ll need to download offline maps and data ahead of time. However, the battery of this binocular is rated for five hours of use. But when the battery dies, the Envision will continue to work as regular binoculars.

As per the reports from TheVerge, the Unistellar company would not sell the first prototypes to sponsors until late 2025. Instead, it will depend on the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for Smart AR Binoculars which is currently more than $1 million short of its target amount of financing. But early bird sponsors can preorder a pair for $699, which is a big savings over the expected $1,199 retail price.
