OpenAI releases SearchGPT on July 25, making entry into the AI search bot battles. The SearchGPT tool is used to answer all kinds of queries on the internet.

However, SearchGPT described itself as “a temporary prototype of new AI search features that give you fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources.” This company plans to test out this tool with 10,000 test users at launch. Then, Openai releases SearchGPT into ChatGPT after collecting the response.

As per the blog post by OpenAI, SearchGPT helps users connect with publishers by clearly citing and linking to them in searches. Moreover, answers are clear and in line, with named attribution and links. Hence, users know where the data is coming from and can rapidly engage with even more answers in a sidebar with source links.

The search engine starts with a big text box that asks the user, What are you looking for? SearchGPT categorizes its results with short descriptions and pictures. However, some users say that it is just like chatbots, as accuracy is missing.

According to TheVerge, a user searched for music festivals in Boone, North Carolina, in August. The top recommendation of SerachGPT was a fair that ends in July and shows the dates of July 29 to August 16—not the date for the festival but the dates for which the box office is closed.

We hope that there are no such things as inaccurate results and recommendations once OpenAI releases SearchGPT completely.
