Meta’s new text-built platform, the Threads app, was launched on July 5, 2023. That lets the users log in Threads app via Instagram credentials to share their thoughts with the world. In an interview, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, confirmed that Threads would soon include direct messaging DM allowing users to text other users via the Threads app.
However, the Threads app became spotlighted as Twitter X faced declining interest among netizens due to the rate limits and drastic changes. That is why the Threads app appeared as a potential alternative to Elon Musk‘s Twitter platform, now recognized as X.
The Instagram CEO made clear that Meta had no intent of swapping Twitter X with threads. The app was aimed at serving as a public square for communities on Instagram that never really embraced Twitter X.
The DM chat feature is one of the most important aspects of any social media platform for communicating privately. In the interview, Messori discussed his team’s priorities regarding the new establishment of the app. Threads app also initiated implementing a Twitter X feature for select users dividing their feeds into the following and for your features.
For your feature, show a mix of posts from followed profiles and recommended accounts. At the same time, the following feature displays posts from the users you follow on threads arranged chronologically.
