Chief of SpaceX, Elon Musk says the upcoming Polaris Dawn mission will be EPIC. The mission is set to liftoff from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, on Monday, August 26, with four non-professional astronauts.
The most anticipated thing about this mission is the spacewalk, which Jared Issacman, an entrepreneur billionaire, and Sarah Gillis, an engineer at SpaceX, will carry out. During the walk, both of them will wear specifically designed Space suits for such (EVAs) extravehicular activities.
Another reason why Elon Musk says the upcoming Polaris dawn mission will be epic is that the spacewalk will be carried out at an altitude much higher than ISS as it will orbit 435 miles (700 kilometers) above Earth. This would be the highest any Crew Dragon would travel. This factor, along with the SpaceX being the first private company to do something like that, the upcoming spacewalk will surely be epic.
Additionally, the crew will also carry out research for human health in space, specifically understanding human health on long space flights. SpaceX will livestream the launch and other parts of the mission. Tune in to keep getting more updates on SpaceX.
