If you have been a fan of the Role-play games then this is something you might be very much familiar with; Diablo 2 Resurrected. This is the new 2020 version of the classic Diablo 2. At the time in 2000 when it was first released, fans were crazy for it. They were also very grateful to Blizzard Entertainment for making this banger.
Though time has passed it died with the new technology and new games. But recently they have the game Diablo 2 Resurrected actually “resurrected” back to life with all new features and all the exciting advancements that they have made for this game after two decades.

Diablo 2 Resurrected not only inspires the gamers now but also provides the best place for the old gamers to get back at it with their friends. Although this might be new to most of Gen Z they can still come along. As many new ones can adapt quickly.
The Changes in Diablo 2 Resurrected
The Changes include players’ toggle between the original and the resurrected versions. Although the changes are minute and focus mostly on the modernization of Diablo 2. Diablo 2 Resurrected has a 3D version of the same game on top of the original one. The upgrade also has the 4K quality that you would hear in a Dolby surround sound
Shared Stash has allowed the players in Diablo 2 Resurrected to be able to have item transfer between their characters. They no longer need the Mule to facilitate the transfer. The game helps use save skill points and save them permanently. Moreover, it helps pick up gold and other treasures.
Development of Diablo 2 Resurrected
Blizzard teamed up with the Vicarious Visions to start the development of the Diablo 2 Resurrected, at the beginning of 2019. While Vicarious handled the graphics and the visual elements of the game, Blizzard took care of the back-end of the game. Make sure the servers and integrations are remastered. It was then pronounced that the Vicarious Visions are taken under Blizzard to facilitate them in the future for further upgrades and game creations.
The Loss of Diablo 2 Resurrected
A month before the launch of the game in February 2021, the remastered, almost ready game; lost all its files due to the corruption of the data in Blizzard’s backup devices.
Most of the source code was recovered through the employees’ backup and the rest of the lost assets were made from scratch. This accident would’ve put them far behind the launch but Blizzard seems to be efficient enough to not let that happen.
Launching Diablo 2 Resurrected
Although Blizzard tried to keep this a secret, the acquisition of Vicarious Visions made it obvious to know they are developing the Diablo 2 Resurrected. The game came out in February 2021 and it hit fans with nostalgic feelings. Blizzard learned a lot from the prior game releases and they expected better fans’ reaction this time.
Diablo 2 Resurrected Will Carry The Original
It was clear that the psychology and philosophy of the remastered game were to preserve the original version of the game without losing the story, plot, and gameplay. Though they changed everything that didn’t meet the modernism requirement and made sure to be available for players of today’s advanced computers. Players do have the option to toggle between the original and remastered game; Diablo 2 Resurrected.
Adding many small details to still make the gameplay better is just the game equipping modernism without losing its true nature and the plot it offers the players. Considering that it was a hit when they released it back in the day. The expected nostalgic revival of the game was correct and fans did go crazy over it.
Testing The Game
In April the Alpha version of the game was launched and it was open to testing, changes were made as per the suggestions made by the fans and more qualities were added. Later in August, the Beta version of the game was out too be tested and then too the changes were made.
One of the biggest changes that were made was the screen display, it was changed from a wide screen to a square one due to some trouble in AI of the game. The multiplayer was changed to not connect local IP addresses together to increase the security of players.
The Launching Chaos of Diablo 2 Resurrected
Though it was launched on September 23, 2021. There came many issues with this game. It put up chaos for the people who were trying to play the game. Although it was released on all the playing platforms and consoles available, it faced issues every step of the way.
Blizzard came up with what was causing the issues and there were several of them. If we go through them, they’d disappoint you with their existence. But Blizzard tried solving these issues by releasing a series of patches. Hoping that it wouldn’t cause more chaos for the players.
Fans Reaction On Diablo 2 Resurrected
Fans sure did go crazy over it. Specifically, the diehard fans that have been waiting for it since the leak about the news of it. It is hard for the new players to equip with the old style of the game. The ones for whom this game was created were thrilled.
How The Did Diehard Fans Felt?
Listening to how the diehard fans felt; we would know that this game sure brought back the thrills of the past. Blizzard has done an awesome job preserving the nature of the game as it was. The controls and features were tweaked just enough so that they don’t ruin the original feel.
What About The Modern Gamers?
The muscle we relaxed and the technology that has pampered our brains wouldn’t allow a game like this. This is why it is harder for the new gamers to adapt to Diablo 2 Resurrected. It has brought back the initial gaming that started two decades ago. Playing this game is like going back to the past and visiting what used to be the heaven of gaming.
