Have you ever felt nervous about calling because you didn’t want your number showing up? Imagine making that call and staying private with just one quick step. Curious how to keep your number hidden? Here’s a simple guide on how to block your number and keep your details private.
Dial *67 to Block Your Number
The quickest way to hide your number is to add *67 to the start of the number you want to call. If you use this trick to block your caller ID from someone saved in your contact list, you must note their number or copy it to the clipboard first. Then, add *67 at the beginning of the copied number and make a call.
For instance, if you desire to block your number when calling (777 777 7777), you must dial (*67 777 777 7777).
However, every country has a different code to hide the caller’s number. The US code is *67. If you want to hide your number in the UK and Ireland, you need to dial 141 at the start of the phone number instead of *67.
When you apply this code trick to call someone, their phone will display it as No Caller ID, Private, Blocked, or something similar. Using this tactic to call someone is a great method to determine if they have blocked your phone number because it could allow you to evade the block.
This code is completely free to use, and you can use it as much as you need. Obviously, you need to dial *67 every time you make a call. So, if you hide your number for every single call you make, you might be better off opting for other methods instead.
Change the Caller ID Settings on Your Phone
Suppose you modify the settings on your phone to block your phone number and hide caller ID for each call you make. iOS and Android devices can hide your caller ID, conceal your phone number as No Caller ID, or make it private to everyone you call.
However, if you want to unblock your number for a specific number, dial *82 before the number you wish to call. This sets aside your settings and shows your phone number again. It is a great way if you want somebody to be able to call you back because you can’t effortlessly contact private numbers.
Unfortunately, some phone carriers don’t allow you to hide your caller ID from your device. If this method does not work for you, jump to the next step to find out how to block your number directly through your preferred carrier.
Block Your Caller ID on iOS Device
Follow the below-mentioned steps to conceal your caller ID on an iPhone:

- Select Show My Caller ID, and then deactivate the toggle to hide your number.

The process could differ depending on your Android phone and phone app. Here, we mentioned two familiar places to find out and block your caller ID:
- Open the phone app and tap on Menu in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Tap on Settings, and then choose Supplementary Services. Depending on your device, you may need to go to Calls Additional Settings.
- Now tap on Show your caller ID and select Never show your number from the context menu.
If this setting does not work for you, try a different one:
- Go to the Phone app again and tap on Menu, then Settings.
- Choose Calling Accounts and tap your carrier name under Settings.
- Select Additional Settings and tap Caller ID.
- Now, choose to Hide the number to block it every time.
Block Your Caller ID Directly With Your Phone Carrier
If you don’t have an option to block your number from your phone’s settings, you can block it directly with your phone carrier.
Some carriers that don’t allow you to hide your caller ID in the device settings will enable you to do so using their app if you can’t figure out how, call your carrier and ask them to block your caller ID.
As with the above method, blocking your number this way hides your caller ID for each call you make. To set aside and display your caller ID for a particular call, you need to dial *82 at the start of the phone number.
How to Block Your Number with AT&T or T-Mobile
AT&T and T-Mobile usually allow you to hide your caller ID using your phone’s settings. Go to the above section to find this option on your specific device.
If you cannot access the option to block your number directly from the phone settings, you need to call the AT&T and T-Mobile customer support center. To do so, call 611 from your device.
Describe your issue to the customer service operator, stating that you want to block your own number and that your device does not allow you. They must allow you to hide your number through the necessary changes to your account.
How to Block Your Number with Verizon
Although Verizon does not allow you to hide your caller ID from Android and iPhone settings, you can execute it through the Verizon website or the My Verizon app.
Visit the Verizon website, sign in to your account, and choose Block Services. If you are doing this from a smartphone, tap the Add button. Find the Caller ID under the Additional Services section and enable it to block your number.
If you are using the Verizon App, first sign in with your Verizon account credentials, then open the Menu and tap on Plans and Devices. Choose your smartphone, and then go to View Details and Block Specific Services. Enable the option for Caller ID Blocking.
Use a Burner Number Instead of Blocking Your Number
If you want to maintain privacy when making phone calls, blocking your number is not the only option. Instead of hiding your number, you can use a Burner number. Typically, this is a separate SIM card or phone that you only use for particular calls. But nowadays, you can use a burner number application to get a second number on the same phone. Some well-known services that provide a second phone number to make calls private are:
- Burner app
- Hushed app
- Google Voice
- Line2
- Dingtone
- TextNow
- Phoner

Moreover, many third-party apps are available that help users find out who is behind a No-Caller ID or Private Number. If someone you call uses one of these tools, they might easily know who is calling, even if you block your Caller ID first. So be cautious
